TallyHoh Launches

We’re excited to announce that we officially launched TallyHoh this morning. It’s an online feed reader with the ability to “tally” or “folly” the items you read to cast a positive or negative vote, respectively. It’s also a social site, and while “social network” may conjure up some dirty feelings, we feel like feed reading is one area that can benefit from some friendly interaction.

We chose a few key technologies when developing TallyHoh, as well: OpenID and Atom.

We’re using OpenID exclusively for our logins. While it hasn’t gained critical mass yet, it’s clear that it’s building momentum as more and more companies are signing on (no pun intended) with OpenID these days. So we’re taking a stand and putting our full weight behind it in the hopes that others will start to do the same.

We’ve also decided to use Atom for all of our own feeds. While RSS has served us well over the years, we’re big fans of the issues that Atom has tackled and hope to see it come out on top in the feed format war.

There’s more to come soon, but give it a try today and let us know what you think.

First!

As you may or may not already know, this blog is way overdue.

Let me back up and give a short introduction. Daniel Roop and Tyler Hunt (that’s me) founded Protoh in October of last year. While some of our upcoming products and a brief statement about us can be found at the index, the basic gist is that we’ve set out to write some web apps. We might not change the world, but hopefully this endeavor of ours will lead to a successful company some day soon. In the mean time, we’re in it to have some fun, and learn what we can along the way.

Daniel has been harping on me for some time now to get a company blog up, so in the interest of moving things forward I’ve taken the time to get one set up tonight. With the imminent beta release of TallyHoh, the timing seemed right, and truth be told, I needed someplace to stick Relax.

So here we are, one step closer to achieving our goals. Here’s to many more steps over the weeks and months to come.
